Gambling host responsibility has some challenges. It can be difficult to know exactly what the signs of harmful gambling are and how to check in with gamblers about whether they’re ok.
We’ve put together these resources to support venue staff and gambling patrons. They’re designed to help gaming societies and class 4 venues (pubs and clubs) meet their gambling host responsibility obligations.
Pokie Societies and Trusts and Club managers will also find:
- A Gambling Host Responsibility Training Package for venue and club staff; plus
- Gambling Host Harm Minimisation Policy templates for societies and clubs.
Many people have helped us to develop these materials to ensure they are easy and effective for staff to use and help them stay within the law. We’ve had the support of gaming societies, Clubs NZ, gambling staff and gamblers. And we’ve worked in partnership with the Department of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Health.
The material on this site matches the information sent to gaming societies and clubs in their Gamble Host packs.
